The temporary residence visa in Mexico

Mexico is one of the countries that receives a large number of foreigners every day, and this is a trend that has been maintained for a decade, Mexico is a country full of different cultures, landscapes and each state has an attraction that is often attract the attention of different tourists; Many foreigners usually only come as visitors, usually for vacations, but there are also others who wish to study or work in the country, and thus they need to process a temporary residence visa.

When a foreigner comes as a tourist, it will depend on their country of origin to know if they need a visa to enter, usually a large number of countries do not need a visa, they only need to present their passport, show economic solvency, show the flight return and the place where they will be hosted, in addition to mentioning the reason why they wish to visit the country, having a minimum stay of up to 180 days.

Any foreigner who intends to arrive in Mexico as a temporary resident, that is to say, staying longer than 180 days and less than 4 years, according to the Mexican government, must comply with the following:

  • Family link (parents, minor children, spouses, concubines, minor stepchildren) with a Mexican or foreign person who has the status of Temporary Resident or holder of a Temporary Residence visa.
  • It has real estate in national territory.
  • It has investments in national territory.
  • Under the protection of an international legal instrument for the mobility of persons.

As additional information that should be taken into account, you will find the following

  • All documents to be submitted must be legible, without deletion or amendment.
  • The documentation presented in another language must be accompanied by its translation into Spanish.

  • Once all the requirements have been fulfilled, a valid visa must be issued, so within 30 calendar days of entering the national territory, the legal stay must be accredited before the National Institute of Migration.
